People from the Past

It was nice to find some old photos from 'Basildon Through Time' on a disc today, Neil was having a tidy up.  What I'd like to know is who were these people?  I wonder if anyone would remember them?

In this untouched photograph we have the adult Ethel Thomas who used to foster children in her plotland building in Dunton, Joe Goodman is the boy to the far left but who were the other children?  Joe was known as the 'King of the One Liners' and was made famous after winning Opportunity Knocks in 1970.

'Henbest for Honesty' was established in 1924 near to Aston Road on the west side of Laindon High Road but I'd really like to know who were these girls posing in the doorway below?
I  didn't use this picture as the quality is really bad, but who is the man wearing the Yokex?  The picture was taken in the Langdon Hills area.

Another picture that I didn't use is this one with a view over Dunton, I believe you can see plotland buildings.  I doubt very much that I'll find out who the boy was running in the picture but I thought I'd put it out there just in case.

You can email me at lisajanehorner@yahoo.co.uk if you would like to help me and identify people in these photographs.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

I've got lots of news to shout about. 1. Just one day to my talk at Keene Hall, Watchouse Road, Galleywood. The talk will commence at 8.00pm, please arrive about 7:45 if you plan to go. Fun fact! I was actually born seventeen years to the day after Basildon New Town came into existence. Basildon New Town was born on (so to speak) 4 January 1949 and I was born on 4 January 1966. Don't you think that is odd?! A bit spooky! 2. A lot is happening behind the scenes towards Basildon Writers' Group's second anthology. Very exciting! But it's not my place to say more, except that I have a story in said book. 3. My musical son has a lovely voice, just thought I'd get that in there! I recently thought of when I was in the community play for Basildon in 1989 called  Beorhtel's Hill,  that was thirty-four years ago now! That is history, relatively speaking. I sent some photos to the  Basildon Heritage Group  for their archives. Photographs from behind the scenes and the...
